Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is one of the least affordable psychological treatments that is in the highest demand across Canada. We want high quality DBT services to be more accessible and affordable.
There is evidence that DBT skills training alone is an effective treatment for a variety of mental health challenges. Midtown DBT currently facilitates groups on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 7:30pm at the cost of $40/session. This group is for individuals 18 years of age and older.

Somatic (Body Movement) Psychotherapy Group

Somatic therapy is a form of “body-centered” therapeutic approach which focus on the physical responses which occur in the body due to Trauma, Anxiety or Depression. It’s helps people overcome symptoms tied to trauma it may allow someone to become “unstuck” in the fight, flight or freeze response by releasing pent- up energy and to better cope with difficult bodily sensations, supressed emotions and can bring you into the present moment.
The principles behind somatic therapy: The mind and body are connected, so whatever is felt in the mind is thought to also show up in the body.
Somatic therapy involves clients working on feeling physical sensations in the body that are tied to past traumatic events, rather than only thinking through the events and emotions that were felt. The purpose is to access the body memory of the event, not the story itself. We do this through movements, journaling, meditation and artwork.

This workshop is ideal for parents and caregivers looking to gain a better knowledge and understanding of attachment parenting. This workshop will be held online on June 6th at 5pm.
Movement Meditation uses the art form of movement as the primary medium of discovering mindful awareness. This workshop will be held online on June 16th at 7pm.

Mindfulness Group for Adolescents/Teens

Do you worry a lot about school, making friends, about what others think of you or is the drama of life consuming you? You’re not alone—everyone experiences worries, anxiety, and stress.
The gentle art of noticing your thoughts and feelings without judging yourself or others is one way to describe Mindfulness.
Participants engage in fun and creative activities that:
- Promote connection and artistic expression through art , play & movement
- Provide an opportunity to explore one’s identity, emotions, and purpose through connecting with others who are going through similar experiences, so they don’t feel alone
- Create a safe space where they feel valued , heard, and not judged
- Introduced the concept of values around friends, family, sex, body image, drugs.
- We generate initial thoughts about each participant’s valued direction in life. Values will be revisited later in the sessions and explored at greater depth
- Mindfulness activities like breathwork , meditation, journaling that help to disconnect from unhelpful patterns , allowing to embrace the present and the possibility of dealing with anxiety , sadness, and stress
Our groups provide an opportunity for pre-teens & teens to learn within a safe, comfortable, and fun environment, surrounded by others experiencing similar thoughts and feelings.
The group meets weekly for eight weeks and is run in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Online Stress Reduction Group in Ontario
Reducing your stress can be difficult to achieve on your own. This four-week stress reduction program can help. It teaches you how to:
- Assess your stress and learn how it manifests in your body
- Live mindfully by using mindful based stress reduction techniques
- Incorporate practical strategies in your everyday life to reduce your stress
- Live a balanced life by choosing yourself first and setting you up to succeed
This group will be running Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings at 6:30pm for 90 minute sessions. Each session costs $40 with a commitment to the 4-week cohort. This group is for individuals 18 years of age and older.
