Faiza Haroon

Grounded in authenticity and genuineness, Faiza brings a warm presence and uses a gentle, empathetic lens to understand people’s stories and struggles. With over 15 years of experience, lived experience and knowledge of Trauma and Neuroscience research, Faiza understands the importance of nurturing safety, vulnerability, and connection while building a therapeutic relationship. She understands how difficult it can be to reach out for help, so she tries to make the process as comfortable and safe as possible. Her education includes an HBSc (Psych.), an MA in Counselling Psychology (MACP), and a Doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (PsyD.) – in progress.

As a person, Faiza finds herself instinctively drawn to ‘seeing’ people, gently peeling the layers, and unearthing the Authentic Self. Her life has been filled with moments of warm curiosity and non-judgmental intrigue, foundational blocks of her counselling style, in which strangers have courageously shared their stories of adversity, strength and resilience.

Faiza believes we can be empowered to find our own answers, that our Core Self carries intuitive wisdom and is buried deep underneath the protective parts. Through compassionate inquiry, we will get to know your inner world and gently bring your Self to awareness, allowing you to heal your trauma and live life in an intentional and meaningful way.

The search for the right therapist is exhausting but the relief in finally being understood is worth it.

This might be the right place for you if you are feeling stuck, battling self-criticism, anxiety or moving through a difficult transition. You seek direction and want to move past the stress holding you back to build a life rooted in your values.

I enjoy working with people – regardless of identity – recognizing that while our challenges may share a name—like depression or low self-esteem—the way we experience them is deeply personal.

I provide personalized tools to relieve the challenges that torment you and a restorative environment where your experiences are validated. Together, we’ll find what works for your unique life, guiding you toward a fulfilling, purposeful future.

I believe that healing also happens in the quiet moments of beauty and connection. When I’m not in the office, you might find me finding peace on a leisurely walk through the forest or by the lake practicing the same mindfulness and balance that I encourage in my clients.

Let’s start working together so you can live your best, most authentic life.

What do you say — what do you leave unsaid? In our sessions together, we will explore patterns in dynamics like these. The type of therapy I offer is called “psychoanalytic psychotherapy” or “psychodynamic psychotherapy.” My goal will be to help you explore the underlying threads in how you relate with others, how you feel, how you act, and what you believe. How we tackle this will look very different for each person. We might spend time examining your feelings about the therapy and about me. Or we might work extensively with associations that come up, or with dreams. We might develop a form of artistic or creative practice together as a way to get to know your unconscious.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy aims to understand the understand the needs, wishes, and conflicts that are being expressed by painful symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, relational strain, and other forms of stress. While I welcome you no matter what your need is, my previous work has often been focused on people diagnosed with personality disorders, working through trauma, or suffering psychosomatic symptoms.

Besides my training in psychology, I have also lectured on philosophy, queer theory, and poetry, and I have some expertise in Jungian analytical psychology. I hope to make our sessions together a creative and productive experience. I look forward to working with you.
