Master of Education (M.Ed.), University of Toronto, OISE – Counselling Psychology (2024 – Present)

Honours BA in Psychology, York University

I am a student therapist completing my MEd in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto and holding an Honours BA in Psychology from York University. I am currently working under supervision as I move toward registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Before stepping into my role as a student therapist, I primarily worked as an addictions and mental health support worker alongside many incredible women and their children. I have also worked with unhoused youth as a shelter support worker, and as a counsellor in a day-program for adults living with developmental disabilities. In my work in the mental health field, I’ve been fortunate to support many individuals and families as they navigate trauma, relationships, mental health challenges, addiction, societal pressures, and issues related to identity and self-esteem. I have worked with diverse populations, including 2SLGBTQIA+, Indigenous, disabled, sex worker, and unhoused communities. I bring my own lived experience as a queer woman, which informs my work and deepens my commitment to identity-affirming care for all. These experiences have helped shape me into a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and holistic therapist.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, empowering, and grounded in the belief that healing takes root in connection – with ourselves, others, and the communities where we find belonging. I value connecting with clients from many walks of life and strive to honour each person’s unique identities, values, and sources of resilience. I believe every person already has within them what they need to heal. Together, we’ll create a space where your strengths, voice, and capacity to carve a path forward feel safe enough to flourish. Your authenticity will be held with care and met with my own.

You deserve a therapist who will listen and hold space for you as you share your story. Someone who will meet you where you’re at with empathy, understanding, and compassion. I believe healing is not done in isolation but comes through a sense of belonging and connection.

It can be hard to climb out of the bottom of the well when you are all by yourself. It’s easier to climb out of the hole when you know someone will hold onto the other end of the rope. I was able to climb up from rock bottom with the love and support of my community who encouraged me to grow and succeed. Now I want to reciprocate what I’ve received.

Because of experiences of oppression I faced when trying to access mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist. As a neurodivergent queer and trans person from a rural community there were many barriers to access I experienced along the way. Now I strive for collective liberation and try to build community through play and creativity. I work to remain aware of my privilege being a white settler with Christian heritage.

Throughout my life the arts have been a source of connection for me. When I felt all alone and needed them most no matter where in the world I was, the arts were there with me. Poetry in particular has been a space where I’ve been free to be my most vulnerable self. Sharing my art has helped me to feel seen. By transforming my insecurities into another form I was able to free the shame I was holding inside my body. My passion for creating is what led me to Expressive Arts as a modality for therapy and what leads me to return to it time and time again.

I might be a good fit if you’re looking for a therapist to:

  • Explore gender and/or queerness
  • Understand and accept being neurodivergent, autistic, and/or having ADHD
  • Discuss the grief and anxiety around climate change and the current socio-political state
  • Process experiences of discrimination and oppression
  • Explore your identities, and reconnect with your creativity, curiosity, and expression of self in a playful and joyous way
  • Explore spirituality and process religious trauma
  • Work through burnout, transitions, and/or isolation
  • Work on anxiety, depression, trauma and your relationship with yourself

If you’d like to discuss working together further then you’re welcome to reach out to me by emailing mabe.kyle@rainbowpearlsupports.com or texting or calling 519-755-0551 to book a free 15 minute consultation.

I offer outdoor walk-and-talk counselling in Calgary and online for those who feel pressure to stay strong while struggling with anxiety, anger, trauma, burnout, depression, stress, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, or life transitions. Traditional office therapy may feel stuffy to you. Maybe you are seeking a different approach that’s more collaborative and engaging. Perhaps you would rather connect with someone at your level being more shoulder-to-shoulder then face-to-face by walking and engaging with the outdoors. Maybe you are seeking clarity, confidence, and a steadier sense of who you are and where you are headed.

My approach is practical and down-to-earth. I work collaboratively to help help you regulate emotions, improve relational communication, along with building a confident self-awareness of values and purpose. I will let you set the pace, but I will let you know when I see avoidance or resistance preventing you from meaningful growth and lasting change.

If you are ready to stop carrying this weight alone, the next step is simple. Send me a message to set up a free 15 min consult to see if we are a good fit. I can meet you over video call or in person, including doing a session while walking outside. Becoming a Canadian Certified Counsellor soon allowing those with a health benefit plan to access insurance coverage to further reduce the session cost.
