Emily Springgay

I’m Emily (she/her). I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) offering individual in-person and virtual psychotherapy. I work with individual youth and adults facing various challenges like relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Together, we uncover patterns, gain insights, and tap into your inner strengths and resources. My approach is rooted in a relational perspective, integrating elements of person-centred, experiential, phenomenological, and arts-based therapy. I work from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, LGBTQIA2S+-affirming perspective and I’m sex/kink/poly/body/sex work positive. I aim to provide a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your inner world, reflect on your experiences, develop coping strategies, and cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself.

I’m a white, queer, bisexual, settler and I practice in Tkaranto/Toronto. I have a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy from OISE at the University of Toronto and a diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from the CREATE Institute. I can customize our sessions according to your unique needs and interests, giving you the option to choose whether you prefer to engage in conversation, express yourself through the arts, or integrate both approaches. Reach out for a free 20 minute consultation to learn more about how I work and to see if we’re a good therapeutic fit.

I believe a nurturing relationship is foundational to growth, therefore, the fit between client and therapist needs to feel right. In service of this, I offer a free initial consultation of 25-50 minutes. If you are curious to learn more about the way I work please reach out to schedule a consultation. I encourage potential clients to talk to other therapists if they are not sure about the connection. Whether we end up working together or not, please know that no matter who you are or what  brings you here, you are worthy of care. If we do not meet, I wish you the best on your journey.

(he/him)

I am deeply committed to creating a healing space where individuals can explore and navigate life’s challenges. My practice is rooted in a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally-sensitive framework, recognizing the impact of diverse identities on mental health. Working collaboratively with both adults and teens, I offer support for a range of issues, from anxiety and depression, to Tourette’s and OCD, to the aftermath of trauma.

I approach therapy with empathy, understanding, and a genuine belief in the resilience of each individual. My goal is to provide a safe and inclusive environment where clients can freely express themselves. I am passionate about dismantling systemic barriers to well-being, fostering empowerment through self-discovery.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, where together, we navigate the complexities of the human experience. I strive to create a space that is not just focused on addressing immediate concerns, but that also encourages transformative growth. With me, therapy becomes a journey towards authenticity, resilience, and a more fulfilling life
