Hi there! My name is Aasna and I am a Student Therapist in the Affordable Therapy Team at Psychotherapy In The City.
” Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage ” – BrenĂ© Brown
I understand the fears that may be associated with seeking help but I also believe it is an act of courage. As I take a person-centered approach, I view the client as a whole and work collaboratively with them to cultivate positive change and create a safe and non-judgmental space. I maintain an open mind in terms of understanding the uniqueness of one’s experiences and take the time to learn, understand and tailor treatment to one’s specific needs, identity, and background. I operate from a multiculturally competent and trauma-informed framework while letting respect, sensitivity, empathy, and autonomy guide my work. While self-growth and achieving therapeutic change can be challenging processes, I am here to support my clients every step of the way while taking a firm stance that clients are the experts on their own stories.
I have completed my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counselling and I am currently a Doctoral Candidate at OISE, University of Toronto. Additionally, I am certified in Mental Health First Aid and I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
I would also like to mention that I offer a free 50-minute session and am currently accepting new clients!
I look forward to hearing from and working with you!
