Hello! My name is Aïda (she/her) and I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
In my practice, I’m particularly passionate about working with people who might struggle with anxiety and trust in relationships, have difficulty establishing and maintaining boundaries, and may have had complex childhoods where and emotional support and safety may have been scarce. Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years working as a community-based counsellor, and many any of the people I worked with struggled with these kinds of concerns. During this time, I recognized the transformative and empowering potential of safe, supportive relationships. I came away from this experience wanting to provide this to others.
In therapy, I offer a compassionate and understanding space to explore whatever patterns are keeping you stuck or might be causing you pain. Together, way can work to develop more awareness, choice, and flexibility around how you relate to others and, most importantly, to yourself. The foundation of my work with clients in based on establishing a safe, trusting relationship where we can truly collaborate so I know how best to support you. Based on your goals and preferences, I draw on relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and emotion-focused approaches.
I am committed to providing an inclusive and liberatory therapeutic experience to all clients. My practice is grounded in anti-oppressive, socially just, and trauma-informed frameworks. As a black woman from an immigrant family, I am keenly aware that our well-being may have important and complex relationships to the social, political, and economic conditions and contexts that we grow up and exist in. I believe it is important to acknowledge and make space for this in therapy.
I believe a good fit between therapist and client is essential to a productive therapeutic relationship. I offer a 30-minute free consultation before beginning sessions to make sure you feel comfortable working with me.
I look forward to meeting you.
