Offering both in-person and virtual sessions in Toronto (and across Ontario) for couples, families, and individuals — including adults and teens.
Hi, my name is Allison. I’m so happy you’re here! Finding a therapist can feel overwhelming and exhausting, and you might be thinking, “Where do I even begin?” Read through this and see if anything resonates. If it does, let’s hop on a video call for a free consultation and see how we fit. This is your process — with any therapist you meet for a consultation, trust your instincts and go with who feels right for you.
To begin, whether I am meeting you in an individual, couples, or family session, I believe every person I meet is inherently good and destined for a full, meaningful life. I deeply care about the people I meet, whether it’s for five sessions or five hundred. One of the main things I focus on when meeting you is truly listening. I want to feel what it’s like to be in your world.
Through an attachment lens, all behaviour makes sense; therefore, I take the time to understand your whys. We’re both human beings, so judgment isn’t accessible to me. Curiosity is my most natural state; it’s not something I have to “put on” as a therapist. I deeply care, and I want to truly know you (and for you to know yourself). That’s where the magic happens.
I work with those struggling with relationship issues, family conflict, life transitions, breakups, anxiety, trauma, any form of abuse, self-esteem, attachment wounds, and nervous system regulation.
In terms of modality, I take an integrative approach to my work, primarily incorporating psychodynamic, somatic, and emotion-focused therapies. Let me break those down for you:
(Relational) Psychodynamic Therapy: We explore how early relationships and past experiences shaped your current patterns — like people‑pleasing, self‑criticism, or fear of abandonment — so you can have more choice now.
Somatic Therapy: We include your body and nervous system, noticing sensations such as tightness, numbness, or collapse, and use regulation tools to support more safety and groundedness — especially around trauma and abuse.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): I help partners and family members understand and shift negative cycles (such as pursue/withdraw or criticize/shut down) and attachment patterns to create safer, more connected bonds.
I wish I could give you a magic pill and make everything better, but good therapy takes time. I am here for you.
