My name is Angelica and I am a second-generation Latina social worker. My journey to this field has been deeply shaped by my experiences navigating life as part of two cultures. Growing up in my community, I witnessed the challenges people face, especially when it comes to mental health, systemic barriers, and finding a sense of belonging. These experiences have fueled my passion for helping others who are facing similar challenges and have shaped the way I approach my work today.
As a registered social worker with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work candidate, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with individuals from all walks of life. This has taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, respecting their unique cultural identities, and empowering them to tap into their own strengths. I believe in creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and validated.
I specialize in using a client-centered, strengths-based approach, and I incorporate evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients move through life’s challenges with resilience. As a therapist, I’m committed to walking alongside you and providing the support you need to thrive in your own unique journey.
My personal and professional experiences have taught me how important it is to understand mental health through a culturally informed lens. I truly believe that culture is an integral part of who we are and how we experience the world, and I bring that understanding into my work with every client.
