Hi, I’m Atessa, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) offering virtual therapy to individuals across Ontario. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and bring a unique combination of clinical training, healthcare experience, community involvement, and creative practice to my work with clients.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly two decades working in health technology, including with eHealth Ontario. This experience gave me a strong understanding of the healthcare system and the many demands people can face while trying to manage their own wellbeing. I now support clients navigating trauma, grief, chronic illness, life transitions, identity, and personal growth. I have a particular interest in working with immigrants, refugees, and individuals from cultural backgrounds who may not always feel fully understood within traditional mental health settings.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual. I draw from approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Existential Therapy, Jungian approaches, and Expressive Arts Therapy. As a practising visual artist, I have exhibited my work across Canada, and I often incorporate creativity into therapy when it feels helpful. For some people, creative expression can provide another way to explore emotions and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
I believe therapy is a space where you can feel understood, explore your experiences without judgment, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. My goal is to meet you where you are, honour your individual and cultural experiences, and work together toward greater clarity, resilience, and meaningful change.
