Experiencing inner conflict and looking for a listening ear? Look no further! My name is Bianca Taylor (She/They), and I am a Master’s student in the University of Ottawa’s Counselling Psychology program. I am currently accepting patients as I embark on my practicum journey with Healing Pathways Counselling in Oakville, ON. As a bisexual woman raised in Roman Catholicism, I have experience with identity reconciliation and the struggles that may arise in this process. I also possess 2.5 years of front-line experience caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities; this has granted me valuable skills in helping others feel seen, heard, and respected as whole individuals. I want to reassure you that the way you are is exactly the way you are meant to be.
I pull from various modalities, such as dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, internal family systems (IFS), and trauma-based methods. I also understand that many facets of identity intersect in unique ways. No treatment is one-size-fits-all; my approach is appropriately tailored to my client’s lived experience to promote safety and best address our therapeutic goals.
I am most interested in treating individuals with mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, in addition to trauma-based concerns/disorders. My deeper passions lie in assisting young adults who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Queer joy is very important to me, and I am committed to demonstrating Pride within my sessions as well as throughout the greater community. I also value humour in session as a way of overcoming adversity. If you feel like society has boxed you in, I’m here to hand you the metaphorical box-cutters you need to begin exploring life’s wider horizons.
If you feel my work aligns with your concerns, I would be honoured to meet with you!
