I am a first-generation Tamil Canadian and have witnessed the impacts of suppressing our feelings and emotions in our society. We are not always taught how to express ourselves but it is crucial to know that it’s okay to be who we are. What is perceived sometimes as a weakness is a display of strength; overcoming barriers and stigma to be true to ourselves. As we uphold our cultural values, it is important always to value ourselves and be authentic. Oftentimes, we are our own worst critics, together we can learn how to be more compassionate to ourselves and grow into who we want to be.

I have worked in the addictions and mental health sector with a clientele ranging from young adults to elderly individuals. I have also worked with family members to support them as they try to support a loved one experiencing addiction and mental health. I am currently completing my Masters in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. I started off this journey with my Bachelor in Honors Life Sciences from McMaster University with a minor in Psychology which created the foundation for my specializations in Addictions and Mental Health. Through this experience and my own personal journey, I was inspired to pursue further education in addictions and mental health to help raise awareness in our community and to support individuals and families as they go through this journey together. I continued my education with a graduate certificate from Ryerson University and went back to McMaster to complete a specialized diploma in addiction studies.

I recognize how scary it can be to reach out which is why, at Tea Time Therapy, we provide an empathetic, client-centred, and confidential space where you will not feel judged. At Tea Time Therapy, we aim to emulate your experience of talking to a close friend over a cup of tea with expert advice and interventions to help you get where you want to be. It is not an easy road to travel as there are many pit stops where change unfolds but important to remember is that it’s okay to seek help.
