Bonny brings over a decade of experience supporting vulnerable populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals, displaced persons, newcomers, women, and survivors of domestic violence. Bonny is dedicated to providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered care. Her approach is rooted in empathy, active listening, and evidence-based techniques, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore emotions, build resilience, and develop strategies for healing and growth.
She adopts an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring methods to each client’s unique needs. Bonny has training in various modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy.
Bonny has advanced training in trauma recovery with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and holds additional certifications in Autism and Neurodiversity in Childcare and Autism and Neurodiversity Workplace Settings from the University of British Columbia. She has experience supporting individuals and families navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, burn-out, and relationship challenges.
In addition to her counselling training, Bonny is an experienced court mediator specializing in conflict resolution and high-conflict disputes. Her mediation skills enhance her ability to navigate emotionally charged situations, foster mutual understanding, and help individuals find constructive solutions.
