A Note From Bonny
I didn’t come to this work from the outside.
I know what it feels like to navigate systems that weren’t designed with you in mind. To carry the weight of complex circumstances — immigration, identity, survival — while the world expects you to simply keep going. I know what it means to need support and not know how to ask for it, or to ask and find that it wasn’t affordable, accessible, or offered in a language that felt like home.
That experience is what built Théla, and it’s what drives the work I do every day.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with over 14 years of experience working alongside domestic violence survivors, newcomers, refugees, and individuals navigating complex mental health conditions. That work has shaped my deep belief that quality therapy should never be a privilege reserved for those who can afford full fees — which is why I reserve reduced-fee spaces and offer sliding scale options as a genuine commitment, not an afterthought.
When you work with me, you are not a file or a presenting problem. You are a whole person — with a history, a culture, a nervous system, and a set of strengths that belong in the room alongside whatever brought you here.
I am glad you found us.
— Bonny Kaman Li, MA, RP (Qualifying) Clinical Director, Théla Psychotherapy Clinic
About Our Clinic
Théla Psychotherapy Clinic is a trauma-informed, trilingual psychotherapy practice serving individuals, youth, and families across Markham and the Greater Toronto Area. We offer in-person sessions in Markham and virtual therapy to clients throughout Ontario.
Our clinical approach is grounded in the understanding that emotional and behavioural challenges most often make sense when viewed through a trauma, attachment, and nervous-system lens. We work collaboratively with clients to build self-understanding, emotional regulation, and practical tools for daily life — at a pace that feels manageable and safe.
We are committed to accessible, culturally responsive care. Services are available in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Portuguese, and we welcome clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, including newcomers and immigrant families navigating the intersections of identity, displacement, and mental health.
