Hello, I am Claire Arkett and I am an MSW intern at Peachey Counselling and Family Support in Burlington ON. I strive to provide a safe, empathetic, and judgement-free space for individuals seeking support with mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression, and general life stressors. My background includes experience working with clients who use substances and developing safety and general care plans for clients experiencing self-harm and suicidal ideation. As I pursue my Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University, I am actively engaged in developing skills and techniques to offer optimal support to my clients.
I offer brief, solution-focused therapy with an emphasis on developing coping skills. My approach is client-centered and collaborative, and I strive to aid clients in developing personalized goals for well-being. I am passionate about providing a safe space for support and conversation and helping clients discover their capacity for resilience.
This past year has presented many unique challenges for everyone: changes to daily functioning at home, work, and school, and the ways we connect with others. We all need support sometimes to adapt to these new experiences and get through the rough patches in our lives. I hope to provide that support to my clients so we can adapt to these changes together.
