Deshawna (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, and Certified Yoga Instructor based in Toronto. She supports racialized women navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, and the impacts of racial and intergenerational trauma.
Many of the clients Deshawna works with are used to being the “strong one” and holding things together at work, in relationships, and for everyone around them. On the outside, things might look okay, but internally they may feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or disconnected from themselves. Deshawna helps to create a space that helps you slow down, tune into your body, and actually process what you’ve been carrying both emotionally, mentally and physically.
Deshawna’s approach is grounded in the belief that healing isn’t just about talking things through, it’s also about how those experiences live in the body. She integrates EMDR, CBT, and somatic practices like mindfulness, breathwork, and restorative yoga to support both emotional and nervous system healing. In sessions you’ll move beyond just understanding patterns and begin to gently process and release what’s been weighing on you.
In sessions, Deshawna offers a warm, grounded, and culturally responsive space where you don’t have to explain or minimize your experiences. She works with you to move at a pace that feels supportive and realistic, helping you build tools to feel more grounded, regulated, and connected to yourself.
