Gabriel is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from McGill University. He is well-rounded, with 4 years of experience providing psychological support to individuals and groups in various settings, including music festivals, wellness retreat centres, clinical research studies, and non-profit organizations, such as the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario. With this background, Gabriel has developed skills in building warm, trusting, and collaborative relationships with adults experiencing a range of emotional challenges and interpersonal issues. He also specializes in harm reduction and psychedelic preparation and integration.
As an experienced mindfulness and meditation practitioner, Gabriel effectively demonstrates awareness, non-judgment, and acceptance to meet clients wherever they are at. Furthermore, he gently explores and identifies each client’s unique needs and circumstances using active listening and compassionate inquiry. During this assessment process, he utilizes a holistic framework acknowledging the many factors potentially contributing to a person’s symptoms, including biological, psychological, social, spiritual, cultural, and systemic elements. Gabriel then works collaboratively to develop concrete goals and strategically draws from an array of psychological theories and counselling methods to help clients achieve them.
A core principle that informs Gabriel’s therapeutic approach is that clients are truly the experts of their own lives. With this attitude, Gabriel respects each person’s individuality and consistently empowers their sense of autonomy and capacity for self-determination. He considers each client his equal, undertaking a facilitative role to support their inner healing intelligence.
