Gulzar believes in the holistic development of individuals she works with; therefore, her approach is with care and affection. Her experience working with students in school, parents, and individuals within the community-based organization has helped her to develop active listening skills, empathy, and open-mindedness towards a variety of lifestyles and situations allowing for a safe, and comfortable space.
Gulzar is goal-oriented and takes a collaborative approach in therapy. With fluency in four different languages, i.e. Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, and English she understands that all individuals are diverse and thus, require interventions that are catered towards everyone’s unique needs.
Gulzar is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and has obtained an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology and an Honors in Social Service Worker program.
Gulzar has counseling experience from past and present employment along with ongoing volunteer work. She has worked as an intake worker for a community-based not-for-profit organization, as a facilitator conducting focus groups, or conducting group sessions for individuals in the community. Working as an educational resource facilitator for the school board, Gulzar maintains a calm demeanor as she finds the best possible solution to the challenging situations at hand. With the belief that everyone is unique in their own way and has the capacity to thrive, her role is to work in collaboration with clients and explore their issues. She prefers CBT, individual, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy.
