“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” – Carl Rogers
Hello and welcome. My name is Hastee and I am currently pursuing my master’s in counselling psychology at Yorkville University. I achieved my bachelor’s in psychology and literature from York University. I am associated with ICA Counselling as an intern therapist under the supervision of Ilda Caeiro-Azzam.
I am a South Asian immigrant to Canada, who was born in India and spent my formative years between India and Abu Dhabi. Moving to Canada as a pre-teen helped open my eyes to a wider world and shaped how I approach and view the world around me, with acceptance and kindness. This also guides how I approach therapy and building our therapeutic relationship.
There are many modalities that we study in this field and they all have their own strengths that are supported by detailed research. I, first and foremost, believe in taking an integrative, human-centred, and trauma-focused approach. Moreover, I think that every human has the capacity for incredible resilience and growth, and that comes from unconditional acceptance of oneself, as we are.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so please reach out with any questions you might have. I look forward to supporting you in this journey.
