Jace is a Master of Social Work Student currently interning at the Vaughan Relationship Centre. Jace has worked at as a Registered Social Worker with the Georgina Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic September 2022. There, he developed a keen understanding of the intersectionality of physical and mental health, cultivating a holistic approach to client care. This experience has equipped him with valuable insights into the challenges individuals face in managing both their medical and psychosocial well-being.

As a cisgender gay male therapist, Jace fosters safe and affirming spaces for clients of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. His personal experiences contribute to a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community, creating an environment where clients feel understood and respected. As well, Jace’s history of addiction enhances his ability to connect with individuals navigating similar struggles. With a keen sense of reflexivity, he approaches clients with empathy, recognizing the complexities of addiction without judgment. His personal journey serves as inspiration for those seeking recovery.

Jace has obtained his Social Service Worker diploma from Seneca College and his Bachelor of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University. Jace is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers. As a millennial therapist, Jace brings a contemporary perspective, authentically connecting with clients from various backgrounds and generations. His approach blends holistic, spiritual, and evidence-based practices, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.

Jace’s commitment to social justice is evident through his extensive experience working with vulnerable individuals fleeing abusive situations or homelessness. His skills extend to crisis intervention, where he adeptly coordinates emergency mental health services, individualized planning, and emotional therapeutic support during critical situations. Additionally, his recent completion of Emotionally Focused Therapy training equips him to support couples in enhancing their communication skills and fostering deeper connections in their relationships. Furthermore, Jace emphasizes a holistic approach by actively collaborating with mental health professionals, social workers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure individuals have access to comprehensive care, including system navigation and case management.

Under the supervision of Amanda Bacchus, Director of the Vaughan Relationship Centre, Jace continually refines his skills, ensuring the delivery of ethical, competent, and client-centred care. Through ongoing self-reflection and supervision, Jace remains dedicated to developing safe and effective therapeutic alliances with his clients.
