What do you say — what do you leave unsaid? In our sessions together, we will explore patterns in dynamics like these. The type of therapy I offer is called “psychoanalytic psychotherapy” or “psychodynamic psychotherapy.” My goal will be to help you explore the underlying threads in how you relate with others, how you feel, how you act, and what you believe. How we tackle this will look very different for each person. We might spend time examining your feelings about the therapy and about me. Or we might work extensively with associations that come up, or with dreams. We might develop a form of artistic or creative practice together as a way to get to know your unconscious.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy aims to understand the understand the needs, wishes, and conflicts that are being expressed by painful symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, relational strain, and other forms of stress. While I welcome you no matter what your need is, my previous work has often been focused on people diagnosed with personality disorders, working through trauma, or suffering psychosomatic symptoms.
Besides my training in psychology, I have also lectured on philosophy, queer theory, and poetry, and I have some expertise in Jungian analytical psychology. I hope to make our sessions together a creative and productive experience. I look forward to working with you.
