I am a graduate of the Toronto Institute of Relational Psychotherapy (TIRP), a registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a member of the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP).
I am a lawyer by profession, I have also worked in finance as an executive at one of Canada’s banks and for the last decade, I have owned my own business. I believe that my varied background helps me quickly join clients in an exploration of what’s troubling them. By exploring the problem from different angles and talking about clients’ preferred future without the problem, often clients can connect the dots on how best to go from “here” to “there”.
My practice is based on the idea that you are in control of the process and that we will meet at the frequency you choose: if you prefer to meet once, twice or weekly for a time, all those options work well with me. I am trained in relational psychotherapy which, at its heart, emphasizes the therapeutic bond between the therapist and the person who has come to her for support. This is because we are best able to make positive change in our lives when we first feel heard and accepted for who we are right now.
From a place of non-judgment, the therapeutic relationship can be a place for your honest and open reflection on what matters most to you. In working with my clients, I like to begin with a competency-focused perspective, based on the belief that everyone has values, skills, knowledge and experience that can be tapped in all areas of life. In our time together, we can mutually discover the unique and positive ways you are working in the world, and talk about how those strengths may apply elsewhere in your life. No matter how difficult life may feel right now, over time I’d like to help you see where and how you have already been successful, either in that exact issue or in other areas of life.
