Have you been feeling like you are navigating a life transition on your own? Do you feel disconnected from yourself, your sense of purpose in life, or your loved ones? I work with people who are moving through big and small changes in their lives – be it a divorce, a death, a new career, a new relationship or grieving the loss of one. Many of the people I support find themselves at the precipice of what is no longer and what is not yet so. That place can be scary, vulnerable, exciting, and sometimes lonely. With a background in yoga, theatre, somatic practices, and Expressive Arts Therapy, I create space for my clients to be present with and lean into that place of transformation.
How I Can Support You
With gentleness and warmth, I foster a space of curiosity and mindfulness to sit with anxiety, depression, overwhelm, and together find ways to move through them without rushing. As an Expressive Arts Therapist, I include the arts (writing, movement, painting, etc) in my process whenever words might stifle my clients or aren’t enough to communicate. Being a multi-lingual immigrant, I hold my sessions in both English and German. I offer therapy to those wanting to be deeply seen, heard and supported, connect with their inner wisdom and build confidence and resilience to create the life they want to live.
What You Can Expect in Therapy
Expressive Arts Therapy is a collaboration between speech therapy and the arts to uncover/discover/recover parts of ourselves beyond words. My background in physical theatre, yoga, and dance, has trained me to pay close attention to the body – the breath, the places we clench, stiffen up, or hold tension, and the areas where movement comes easy vs is limited. I use the body as part of the process with the understanding that what we feel or think happens within the premise of our physical container and thus is impacted by it. My therapy session is not a movement class but I believe that awareness of how our bodies communicate plays an essential part in understanding ourselves.
My Approach
My studies of humanistic, relational, trauma-informed, and feminist approaches to therapy have deeply shaped my therapeutic practice. In my work, I focus on creating a safe, open, genuine container for my clients to share, be vulnerable, and express themselves through words and the arts. Together, we will inquire into the spaces that need tending and create a path forward – at the tempo that feels right to you. I am here to assist, support, listen, offer guidance, patience and kindness as we sit together at the precipice of what you think it means to be a fully self-expressed you.
