My name is Josh and I am a queer-identifying Registered Psychotherapist. My approach to psychotherapy centres the relationship that develops between us and focuses on creating safety. I approach each person with genuine curiosity and empathy to better understand their past and present experiences and how they’ve survived. Commonly, the ways of coping we develop at an earlier time are necessary, but may no longer be now. I have extensive experience working with adults to address relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, depression and self-esteem. I draw from psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, narrative psychotherapy and parts work.
In my work with clients, I pay close attention to their experiences in relationships. Relationships are integral to how we make sense of ourselves and others. As humans we are prone to repeating relational dynamics, and therapy offers an opportunity to understand, accept and shift this. The wounds formed from relationship can be healed through relationship.
I have tremendous respect for any person who acknowledges a need for support, change or improvement. I am committed to offering a non-judgmental, exploratory space to learn more about your emotional experiences, needs and sense of self. If you feel we are a good fit for each other, please email me and we can arrange a free 15-minute phone consultation.
