About…

In navigating life’s complexities, we often face unforeseen challenges impacting our psychological and physical well-being. These may range from health crises, such as sudden illnesses, to complex relational dynamics and professional setbacks, all of which test our resilience. However, these challenges can also be opportunities for personal growth.

I am Juliet Opoku, a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) with a Bachelor of Nursing Science and over two decades of experience as a registered nurse. My focus is on chronic illness prevention, particularly in diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases, supported by my certifications in diabetes and bariatric education. I also emphasize mental health promotion and take pride in providing compassionate, culturally competent care. I am committed to understanding and respecting your cultural background in our therapeutic journey.

Our collaboration is centered around your well-being. Together, we will identify areas for growth and develop practical strategies for your health journey. Your active participation will empower you in managing your mental health. While confidentiality is a priority, I recognize the value of involving family support in your healing process with your consent.

As an African Canadian counselor, I bring a unique perspective to the table. I understand the distinct challenges associated with trauma, anxiety, depression, and the complexities of the immigrant experience. My extensive work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds allows me to address the cultural factors that influence mental health outcomes effectively. I recognize the significance of spirituality in the therapeutic process and strive to integrate culturally relevant practices into our sessions, facilitating clients’ navigation of trauma in relation to their religious beliefs and spiritual frameworks.

I offer various therapeutic interventions focused on enhancing mental health, particularly through solution-focused approaches, cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, etc. My aim is to create a safe and comfortable space for open emotional expression and positive change. I offer virtual appointments with adjusted fees for accessibility and a complimentary 15-minute consultation to assess compatibility.
