Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed? Do you have trouble expressing your needs to others in your life, or do you feel anxious or guilty when you do? As we try to be the “perfect” employee, partner, and family member all at once, it can be difficult to remember that it is okay to feel confused, frustrated, angry, sad, or apathetic in our lives.
As a Registered Psychotherapist, I believe in the concept of unconditional positive regard. I assist clients with both discovering and accepting all the unique aspects of themselves, encouraging self-care and to speak freely without fear of judgement. Simply sharing the trials of our life’s journey in a safe, non-judgmental space can help to begin the healing process.
From there, many paths of exploration open as we bring awareness to behavioural patterns, family dynamics, experiences from the past or even from childhood. Often we may find ourselves repeating old habits, not knowing how to begin making healthy shifts in our behaviour to improve present day situations. The subconscious is a powerful thing and we can unintentionally carry feelings or defence mechanisms born of stress, anxiety, fear, or rage for much longer than they serve us. This is why it’s so important to me that the client has a positive and empathetic environment in therapy. To express ourselves honestly to others requires a feeling of safety, respect, and empathy.
Helping clients discover feelings of empowerment and newfound confidence, when they realize they are not only okay, but more than capable and deserving of achieving anything they desire is my greatest joy and passion in my work as a Psychotherapist. If you find yourself feeling stressed, anxious, or experiencing relationship/family difficulties in your life, it would be my privilege to work with you.
