About…

Lana Kamel

Pre-Licensed Professional, MACP Candidate | English & Arabic | Virtual Therapy

If you have spent years feeling too sensitive, too distracted, too emotional, too much, or somehow never enough, you may have learned to hide parts of yourself just to fit in.

For many neurodivergent people, daily life can feel exhausting in ways others do not always see. You may be masking at work or school, overwhelmed by noise, routines, relationships, or expectations, struggling to start tasks or stay organized, or constantly pushing yourself until you burn out. You may also be wondering whether autism, ADHD, or neurodivergence could help explain experiences you have carried for years.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin exploring these questions in therapy.

I work primarily with neurodivergent teens and adults, including autistic people, people with ADHD, and those who are still trying to understand how their mind works. I also support people navigating anxiety, burnout, sensory overwhelm, difficulty managing strong emotions, low self-esteem, family pressure, and the exhaustion of pretending to be okay.

My approach is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive, and neurodiversity-affirming. I draw from mindfulness, body-based awareness, ACT, and CBT, using practical and flexible tools that fit the person in front of me. Therapy is not about fixing who you are or teaching you to hide yourself better. It is about understanding your needs, recognizing your strengths, and finding ways to move through life with more ease, self-trust, and compassion.

I bring years of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families. This has taught me to look beyond what others may label as difficult behaviour and ask what a person may be communicating, needing, avoiding, or trying to cope with. I also support parents and family members who want to better understand and connect with a neurodivergent loved one.

For many clients, neurodivergence is only one part of the story. Culture, faith, family expectations, language, and identity can all shape how safe it feels to ask for help or express what you truly need. You may feel caught between being yourself and being who others expect you to be. In our work together, your culture, language, faith, communication style, sensory needs, and lived experience do not need to be explained from scratch.

Together, we may explore masking, burnout, anxiety, relationships, boundaries, self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, family pressure, and the patterns that have left you feeling misunderstood or disconnected from yourself. We can also build practical tools for planning, focus, communication, emotional regulation, and everyday life.

The goal is not to become someone new. It is to understand yourself more deeply, stop fighting against the way you are wired, and begin building a life that feels more sustainable, honest, and your own.

The hardest part is often reaching out. I offer a free 30-minute consultation so we can connect, discuss what you are looking for, and see whether working together feels right.
