With empathy and care, I strive to create a space where you feel supported and comfortable to share personal experiences. My name is Lauren, and I am a therapist intern at Your Story Counselling completing a Master’s of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto. Life throws many challenges at us that can affect us mentally, emotionally, physically, and relationally. I understand how hard it can be to seek help and begin your therapeutic journey towards healing, and I commend you for taking the first step. As someone whose experienced various mental and emotional hardships, and has gone through a therapeutic journey of their own, I can easily empathize and relate to what you may be going through. I am committed to providing for you the support I know can be so helpful during these hard times. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you in your journey.
My style of therapy is eclectic, drawing on various evidence-based theoretical modalities and techniques including cognitive-behavioral, narrative, dialectical, acceptance and commitment, and psychodynamic therapy among many more. My approach is egalitarian and collaborative, and I appreciate the expertise of my clients. Together, we can discover an approach that best suits you based on your individuality, concerns, preferences, and cultural identities. As a woman who comes from a family of first-generation immigrants, I continuously strive practice in a clinically anti-oppressive, culturally-sensitive, trauma-sensitive, and respectful way.
I would love to chat about any questions or concerns you might have during a free 15-minute consultation. I also offer affordable therapy and sliding scale rates under the clinical supervision of Judy Lui (RP, CCC, RMFT) and MacGyver Kou (RP, MSC). I look forward to meeting you!
