My name is Linda (pronouns: she/her/hers), and I am excited and honoured to join the wonderful team at Liana Yip and Associates. I come to the work of counselling as a second career, following many years as a teacher and author of fiction and poetry. I offer an empathic understanding of life and work transitions, having recently completed at mid-life, doctoral studies in depth psychology, with a specialization in Jungian and archetypal psychology. My research explored the healing and reclamation of psychological health, individual integrity, and fulfillment following spiritual and religious oppression.
My deep interest in the human psyche and its multitude of expressions led to undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, literature, education, and creative writing. I have always held a fascination with how the expressive arts can inform us about and work in healing service to the psyche, and have furthered my training to offer the options of narrative and expressive arts therapies (for which you need not have any artistic training whatsoever). I believe in the deep strengths and expertise we all hold within and am honoured to come alongside others who would like support in uncovering and bringing to light these inherent resources, with a commitment to compassion, kindness, and a warm and caring presence.
I am a proud mom to twin teenagers, and in my free time I love exploring the outdoors with family and friends, as well as ocean kayaking, reading voraciously, and doing crafts.
In our busy and distracting world, it can feel difficult to access the inner resources we need for healing and reconnection with our authentic selves. Counselling can be one way to create space for these explorations. Whether you have spent many years building connections to your inner life or are new to this endeavour, I will meet you where you are at and hold space for the unfolding, with respect and appreciation for your unique life expressions.
