Nice to meet you! My name is Lisa Moodie (she/her).
My approach to therapy values building a trusting relationship – it is the most important thing to me when I am working with any person, of whatever age! Trust takes time, and I am here for the journey. I see therapy like a dance, that ebbs and flows with who leads and who follows, and other times we are side by side facing whatever burdens/stresses that you bring.
I am a Social Worker by trade and like to use creative ways of knowing and learning about self, relationships, and circumstances, etc. (sand, clay, art, music, and other playful ways). Talk therapy alone is not for everyone—which is why I incorporate other ways of self-expression.
Attachment is a special interest of mine. I am a Certified Circle of Security Facilitator and can use this individually or in a group format. I also use Theraplay based interventions to strengthen relationships between parents/caregivers and their children. Due to the importance of mental health during and after pregnancy, I am Perinatal Mental Health-Certified.
I have experience working with adult and child mental health issues, interpersonal violence, families struggling with finances and housing stability; young parents who are parenting; parents trying to have their children returned to their care; and children of all ages (in various roles across my career).
Lastly, I value your feedback and want you to feel safe to tell me how I am doing (good or bad) so that I can make the changes you need to make therapy work for you!
Thanks for taking the time to read about me, my style, and my experience; and thinking if we might be a good match. I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely, Lisa
