Hello! My name is Luke and I am a Registered Social Worker and Clinical Specialist (qualifying).
Growing up in the heart of the rural Annapolis Valley, I learned quickly the importance of unity, trust, and healthy relationships. Therefore I embrace the philosophy of Ubuntu – I am, because we are – emphasizing the importance of recognizing that well-being is directly linked to community and life experiences.
I earned my Master of Social Work from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Prior to completing my MSW, I earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts, double-majoring in Criminology and Sociology with a minor in Psychology.
I have experience working in what was formerly the Child Protection system (now Child and Family Wellbeing) as well as supporting both youth and adults navigate complex life challenges including, but not limited to: mental health, addictions, healthy relationships, anger management and emotional regulation, homelessness, sexual exploitation and trafficking.
I also have experience as a clinical consultant for social programs, organizations, teams, and athletes. I also have specialized experience supporting those who identify as a male, including male-identifying caregivers in both individual, and group formats.
I pride myself in approaching therapy from a Person-Centered and a Solution-Focused perspective. My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
