“Art making is my way of bringing soul back into my life. Soul is the place where the messiness of life is tolerated, where feelings animate the narration of life, where story exists. Soul is the place where I am replenished and can experience both gardens and graveyards. Art is my way of knowing who I am.” Pat Allen, Art is a Way of Knowing
Hey there, thanks for checking out my page, my name is Maddison Miller (She/Hers/They/Them). I’m currently a student art therapist attending the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute (VATI) and I live in Vancouver, BC. My graduation (pending) from VATI should hopefully occur early in 2023. My VIRTUAL art therapy practice facilitates a client-led, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, mindful, and strength-based approach. I lean into postmodern, person-centered, flow and humanist theories to guide my art therapy practice. I trust clients as the experts on their lived experiences and healing. I embrace healing as a non-linear journey, honouring all emotions which arise, always returning to the art and creative process as the healing container. I work to understand my clients lives through their lens, perspective, and experiences. I stay curious, open and up to date on new theories and approaches arising within the field of art therapy. For the last year I’ve been working at a local school as a student art therapist, I also have my own private student art therapy practice, which I offer virtually. No art experience is necessary, we can work with the art supplies you have on hand around your home. To book a free virtual consultation appointment, or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you!
