As a woman of colour, I was driven to become a therapist because I struggled to find someone like me when I needed support. Muslim women, immigrants, and women of colour face enough challenges, finding a therapist who understands their lived experience should not be one of them.
Throughout my professional live I have had the honour to work with a variety of people, from all walks of life, as they navigate challenges. Being a pillar of support to someone when they are in need is a beautiful gift. I’ve been described as stoic, calm and grounding by my supervisors and teachers, qualities I am proud to embody as a therapist.
To me, therapy is a time to find your peace, and get centered in this overwhelming, overstimulating world. I strive to use evidence-based approaches to support my clients. This means that I use tried and true interventions to facilitate the most effective change.
I offer therapy in both English and French and I can offer support in Arabic to individuals who are familiar with the Egyptian dialect.
I specialize in working with couples and women. You are welcome to bring any challenges or topics of discussion into our space. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, BPD, and ADHD.
To see if we would be a good fit to work together, I offer a free connection call (approximately 15-20 minutes) through a video platform. When you are ready, you may email info@thejourneycounselling to book through our clinic Care Coordinator, or visit this link to book directly: https://aws-portal.owlpractice.ca/thejourneycounselling/booking
