About…

Hi / Salaam, I’m Maryam (she/her). I offer sessions in English and Farsi.

Who I have experience supporting:
I work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, and I welcome the opportunity to support people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. You might be reaching out because:

  • You feel caught between cultures, communities, or competing expectations, and you’re trying to figure out who you are on your own terms
  • Old patterns keep showing up in your relationships (romantic, family, or friendship) and you want to understand them and break free from them.
  • You are carrying the weight of intergenerational expectations, family dynamics, or an immigration story that’s shaped you in ways you’re still making sense of
  • Your self-worth feels tied to what you produce, how you show up for others, or how well you meet everyone else’s needs
  • You are navigating life transitions and are looking for steady support as you figure out what’s next

I’m especially drawn to supporting clients navigating the challenge developing strong self trust, BIPOC experiences, intergenerational family dynamics, self-esteem and self-worth, perfectionism, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, and relationship challenges (romantic, family, or platonic).

How I work
As someone who grew up in a bicultural immigrant family, I bring a lived understanding of how culture, identity, and intergenerational dynamics can shape how we see ourselves and relate to others. Rather than assuming what keeps you from living your best life, I see therapy as a place to explore, on your own terms, how you want to relate to the world.

My approach is grounded in an anti-oppressive and culturally responsive lens. I work collaboratively, drawing from narrative, dialogic, and solution-focused approaches. Together we’ll slow down and make sense of what you’re going through, notice patterns in your relationships and experiences, and reconnect with your strengths and what feels most meaningful to you.

What it’s like to work with me
Clients often describe me as calm, grounded, and easy to talk to. I’ll meet you with warmth, gentle curiosity, and the kind of questions that invite reflection without pressure. I value authenticity and humour, and I aim to create a space that feels both safe and real.

A little about me
Outside of the therapy room, I hold many roles that matter deeply to me that include being a daughter, sister, friend, student, community member. These parts of my life continue to shape how I understand connection, responsibility, and care. I stay active through soccer, pickleball, and walks, and I love being outdoors hiking and camping. I find clarity in simple routines like long drives with music, and I’m always learning how to cook and bake something new. I deeply appreciate the small comforts of everyday life like a good iced vanilla latte!
