My journey to become a therapist began with a career change from the field of Engineering. After completing my undergraduate degree and working in industry for several years, I realized that my passions and strengths lied elsewhere. There was a strong desire to connect and understand others in a deeply meaningful way.
My experiences have given me a strong understanding of the unique challenges that everyday professionals and families face daily. As a result, I am familiar with the struggles of contemplating a career change or even deciding what to do with your life as a young adult.
My therapeutic approach is largely Person Centred and Emotion Focused, but as a student I am not afraid to introduce Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT) techniques as I see fit. My goal is to prioritize the therapeutic relationship over anything else, as I believe that meaningful change can only occur once a strong level of trust has been established.
A bit more about myself, I love to spend time outdoors and I am an avid runner, swimmer, and cyclist. I have 3 beloved cats together with my fiancé. I previously worked a mechanical engineer, then a teacher at an Oxford Learning Centre. I volunteer at Joseph Brant Hospital, talking with seniors experiencing dementia, or delirium.
