If you are reading this you are likely going through a hard time in your life. Perhaps you are processing a traumatic event, are trying to get back on your feet after being knocked down for the umpteenth time, or grieving the loss of someone, or something, precious to you? No matter what it is, I would like to try and help you overcome life’s obstacles by untangling the knots of thought and feeling that hold you in place. As you can see from the specialties and experience portion of my profile, I have experience, or am open to, working with a variety of issues and a diverse clientele. My preference however, is to work in the field of anxiety/self-esteem, trauma of any kind (loss, abuse, physical injury), relationships, and developmental differences (ADHD). In regard to how I go about helping my clients, my therapeutic approach has a foundation in Narrative Therapy, and incorporates aspects of various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, Solution-focused, Somatic Experiencing, Positive Psychology, and Gestalt. What this means, if you are unfamiliar with these modalities, is that I like to focus on learning about the stories you tell yourself about yourself, then help you rewrite those parts of the story which are not fair to you. Additionally, I like to use your natural abilities to help you learn how to deal with the issues, and develop the emotional regulation to allow you to think through stressful situations as they happen. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, biking, playing with my dog Bongo, and being consistently disappointed by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
