How I Can Help
Top Specialities: trauma, anxiety, relationship/attachment issues
Are you an adult who’s ready to unpack childhood trauma? Maybe you’ve started to reflect on the events of your past and realized things weren’t as good or normal as you thought they were. You’re starting to wonder if your anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties are caused by the rough events of your child and teen years.
When we experience trauma and attachment wounds in childhood, whether it’s physical abuse, bullying, or our caregivers not meeting our needs for love and connection, we internalize painful beliefs about ourselves and learn coping behaviours like numbing or obedience to survive in our environment. While those behaviours helped us survive at the time, they often no longer serve us as adults. Maybe as an adult, those coping behaviours look like people-pleasing, perfectionism, avoidance, or hypervigilance. They might be causing chronic anxiety, difficulties in your relationships, and a harsh inner critic.
I will help you understand your emotions and shift out of beliefs and coping behaviours that are no longer serving you. Together, we’ll build a picture of how your past and present experiences are contributing to the issues you want to let go of. Therapy can help you process your experiences (whether the experience was highly traumatic or mildly distressing) and develop coping skills to manage your reactions and emotions. I love seeing my clients build insight, resilience, safety, and connection.
If you’re an adult who’s ready to unpack childhood trauma so you can live authentically, I’d love to help! Please email for a free consultation.
My Approach/Style
As a therapist, I have a friendly, authentic, and warm demeanour. I believe a strong connection with your therapist is of crucial importance, so I take extra care in ensuring I’m understanding you and making you feel seen. I’m also happy to share appropriate information about my own life if I think it will be helpful or relevant.
I respect my clients’ strengths, autonomy, and internal resilience, so I will always support you in coming to your own conclusions and finding your own solutions. But I also don’t shy away from sharing different insights and perspectives, or give guidance and advice if needed.
If you’re curious about the specific types of therapies I use, I have training in multiple modalities. After spending some time getting to know you, I’ll apply the therapy techniques that best suit your concerns. I have training in schema therapy, inner child work, EMDR, IFS, ACT, DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and attachment theory.
