Therapy is believed to inspire change and improve the quality of life through self-awareness and self-exploration although it is sought for different reasons. Everyone has their life story, filled with many chapters that depict their lived experience and the perspectives that reflect on those key moments. Life can be full of highs and lows, although it can be tough in navigating intense emotions, loneliness, relationships, traumatic/adverse childhood experiences, anxiety or depression. At times you might find yourself reminiscing on the past, trying to manage with the present or pondering about the future. It feels like an ongoing struggle to strike a balance and recognize who you are as a person. Whether it is working through past experiences, managing major life changes, coping with mental health struggles, experiencing symptoms or overcoming acute crisis, just remember that it is normal to have these feelings and you are not alone in this process.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and MA in Counselling Psychology practicum student, who is qualified to practice under supervision, I work with individuals and groups of all backgrounds, ages, communities and belief. My lived experience informs my approach. As a South-Asian man and a first-generation Canadian, I work from a socially conscious, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and inclusive lens. I am focused on providing a safe-space that provides an environment where you can freely express yourself without fear of prejudice, discrimination or judgment. I utilize an integrative set of evidence-based techniques (CBT,SFBT,DBT, talk therapy and trauma based therapies) to ensure clients get perspective, develop helpful tools, feel connected and take steps in achieving their goals.
I recognize that it is a big step to dive into therapy, however, if you want counselling that will make change, provide a better understanding for yourself and improving your quality of life, then feel free to reach out for a free consult to determine if we would be a good fit to work together. I look forward to meeting and working with you. Email me at KTpsychotherapy@protonmail.com with my name and consultation in the subject line.
