Norah (she/her/hers) Thank you for coming to visit my page! I am an artist and certified expressive arts therapist registered with the Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association. My core approach stems from the belief that everyone has a unique creative capacity within them. This capacity is often something that gets dampened as we grow. Sometimes by our family, sometimes by a teacher, sometimes by a stranger on social media. If we continue to hear “I am not good enough, or skilled enough to create” we can start to believe it ourselves. I am here to show you how to reconnect with that creativity again. I strive to support people in discovering and developing that ember that is creative capacity. My work is rooted in the idea that our unique creative capacity is also an incredible resource to lean on when life feels unbearable. The arts can hold our suffering in a way that we are not able to. Together we work to build upon practical tools that exist inside the individual. My role as the companion is to empower people through the therapeutic relationship. So that they can begin to navigate life from a place that is rooted in abundant creative capacity. When that capacity starts to show up consistently in session, it will also begin to show up consistently in life. I have spent much of my time in First Nations communities throughout Treaty 3, and Treaty 9 Territory. I would often stay 2-10 days in the community/month. Offering a blend of art activities and therapy services. It was through these incredible experiences that I learned much of the foundation I lean on today as a trauma informed therapist. I use a client lead, resource focused approach to all my work. You are the expert of your story. For more information you can check out my instagram account @embernartstudios.
