Norah Mooney
Expressive Arts Therapist

Norah (she/her/hers) Thank you for coming to visit my page! I am an artist and expressive arts therapist registered with the Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association. I am also a member of the CCPA and IEATA.

I approach this work from an artist first place of being. What does that mean? Art is my core and my creative process’ are the roots from which I pull when engaging in healing work.

I have spent much of my time in First Nations communities throughout Treaty 3, and Treaty 9 Territory. I would often stay 2-10 days in the community/month. Offering a blend of art activities and therapy services. It was through these incredible experiences that I learned much of the foundation I lean on today as a trauma informed therapist. I use a client lead, resource focused approach to all my work. You are the expert in your story.

Thus far in my career I have experience working with; people on the autism spectrum, Eating Disorder (and its subtypes), Infertility, Schizophrenia, BPD, Dissociation, Addiction, Sleep/Insomnia, Career related trauma, Divorce/Separation. I have also supported many artists in rediscovering and reconnecting to their creativity.

No matter the experience of the individual, my core approach stems from the belief that everyone has a unique creative capacity within themselves. In my work with folks, I strive to support them in discovering and developing that ember that is creative capacity.  Together we work to build upon practical tools that exist inside the individual. My role as the companion is to empower people through the therapeutic relationship.  So that they can begin to navigate life from a place that is rooted in abundant creative capacity. When that capacity starts to show up consistently in session, it will also begin to show up consistently in life.  I am happy to offer a free 30-minute consultation to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for the gift of your time, I hope you find the support you need and deserve!

Note: if you are in search of an RP (Registered Psychotherapist) my services are likely not what you are looking for.
