Hi, I’m Rachel (she/her). I named my therapy practice Welcome Here Psychotherapy as a way to acknowledge the tremendous courage it takes to allow vulnerability to be witnessed. I aim to provide a space of acceptance and belonging for you, because I believe that is where healing starts from. I bring an energy of curiosity and compassionate witnessing to whatever version of you shows up on any given day. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support your healing journey. We will work collaboratively to find your path towards integration, healing, and a greater sense of wellbeing.
I am a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) with specialized training in art therapy. I combine talk-therapy and creative/experiential methods, and I work from a trauma, attachment, and nervous-system based perspective. I have experience working with individuals across the life-span, and am adaptable in my approach. I enjoy having diversity in my practice, and I have worked in many different settings from hospitals, long term care homes, shelters, palliative care, feminist agencies, a child and youth mental health clinic, and even a garden.
My current practice is open to individuals with diverse needs and life experiences, however I do have a specific focus supporting people during pregnancy/postpartum/new parents, as well as survivors of violence (especially gender based violence and relational trauma).
While I am adaptable in my therapeutic approach, my core values always guide my work. I am committed to ongoing learning and practicing from a feminist, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens.
If you resonate with what I have shared about my approach so far, please don’t hesitate to connect with me and we can book a consultation (free of charge), to see if we’re a good fit.
