Therapy starts with a safe space where a therapist is fully present for a client. A safe place is a stepping stone for change. All humans have an innate capacity for growth but at times our past traumas and fears of the future stall our growth. A compassionate and competent therapist can help you find the strength to move forward. As a Registered Therapist Intern (Qualifying), I’m looking forward to working with you.
I start from a Person-centred approach and use evidence-based techniques as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. These types of therapy have the benefit of combining acceptance of the past and mindfulness to ground us in the present, with a strengths-based focus. We discuss and investigate what blocks you from experiencing the spark and positive direction in your life, and identify a path to regain your freedom of choice.
If you experience intense emotions or trauma, we can work on reducing the intensity of the emotions. If you are paralyzed by fear, we will use evidence-based techniques to investigate, challenge and reduce your fears. If you feel discouraged or lost for meaning, we look at your values, what matters to you, to step by step rediscover your direction in life.
I was born in Europe, have lived in East Asia for years and have settled in Toronto for the past 20 years. I welcome all ages 18+; it will be a privilege to work with you!
As an immigrant myself, I have a special affinity for working with immigrants and people from minority groups. Older adults are often overlooked in society and health care. Working with older adults in personal care settings and hospitals has taught me that people over 60 are a highly heterogeneous group, yet they share everyday experiences.
The solutions are in you. Together, we can create the safety needed to process the past and redirect your life towards a better future. I offer a hand on your shoulder, supporting you at every step on your path towards a realistic version of your best life.
