Hello there! I’d like to introduce myself; my name is Sara Chechak. I am pleased to be offering individual counselling services after accumulating over fourteen years of experience working with adults, teens and children in various social service and not-for-profit organizations. Presently, I am nearing the completion of a Master’s degree in Social Work, which has provided me the added confidence to be your trusted ally as you work towards your personal goals, increased wellness and healing. I am dedicated to creating a sense of safety and trust within our relationship and will ensure that you feel in control of all aspects of your healing journey.
As a trauma informed and anti-oppressive therapist, I value and respect our different lived experiences, and am committed to learning to see the world through your eyes. I have had the privilege of supporting people moving through a host of life challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, addictions, LGBTQIA+ issues, gender transitions, illness and disability, loss, grief and homelessness. I work from a psychodynamic framework and utilize an eclectic approach to therapy with elements of narrative therapy, differential psychotherapeutics, family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, somatic experiencing, creative arts therapy, mindfulness-based approaches and psycho-education.
With my experience, training and continuous commitment to learning I believe we can co-create a meaningful therapeutic experience that is unique for you and brings the contentment in life you truly deserve. I hope to hear from you soon!
Initial free phone consultation with my supervisor, Tammy Marcus MSW, RSW to ensure it is a good fit and to discuss your specific situation and reasons for seeking therapy at this time.
