I have 10 years experience working with youth and families, often when there is significant child-parent conflict. I allow both parties to lead their treatment and I help them navigate ways to communicate more effectively and appropriately. This requires supporting both parties under a strengths-based approach and homing in on their individual strengths, as these can often be lost when there is conflict or a rupture in the relationship.
It is by being authentic and true to ourselves that allows us to unapologetically ask for support as we navigate the challenges that come up in life. Being ready to explore areas of one’s self is something of strength and courage. This process of exploration will ultimately allow the individual to see their own strengths, focus on their individual needs and achieve a better sense of self. I view therapy as a collaborative approach, which through a strong therapeutic relationship, I believe is where one finds therapeutic success. The relationship that is present between the therapist and the client is one built on trust, true authenticity and empathy. I would be humbled to take this journey with you and support you as you work towards your therapeutic goals.
I take a client-centered and strengths-based approach, while using various therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, as well as Narrative therapy, Emotion-Focused therapy and Mindfulness-based interventions. Furthermore, I have experience working with clients who have Acquired Brain Injuries (ABIs) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs). I recognize that often these injuries can impact mental health and I can help you explore these emotions by helping to optimize your own self-awareness.
