As a registered nurse since 2006, I have experienced the reality that mental health is important to every context within healthcare and with every patient, family and community. As a sexual assault/domestic violence forensic nurse examiner, I have provided crisis counselling, trauma informed care and therapy for a number of needs. As a nurse, I have provided counselling and therapy services for my entire career. As a survivor of postpartum trauma, PTSD and moral injury from a healthcare system that isn’t meeting the most basic empathetic needs of their patients, I have a unique view and ability to assist my clients in their therapy journey. Using a number of techniques (CBT, IBT, Trauma-Informed Therapy, EMDR) I can provide a therapeutic experience that is client-driven, wellness focused and informed by a holistic view of person, family and community. My masters degree in nursing and soon to be finished doctorate in nursing practice, further show the importance of mental wellness in overall physical health as well as the importance of a mentally well community on social needs and supports. I hope to continue to use my skills to practice and reach even more people in need through my private therapy practice.
