Welcome, my name is Sukhmeet Brar and I am here for you. I am a Master’s level in Counselling Psychology practicum student working under the supervision of Judy Lui and MacGyver Kou. You deserve to be heard and seen. Often when we struggle with our mental health we feel trapped or stuck. I am here to remind you with this beautiful quote “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” — Nido Qubein. I am a person of colour and a second-generation immigrant and I understand the stigma associated with trying to reach out and get help for your mental health. I want to help my clients feel empowered and self-aware through our collaborative work. I believe we all have the strength to fight our battles and I want to help you bring out that inner strength.
The space we will share will be a judgment-free space where all are welcome. I will utilize modalities such as narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and a strength-based approach. I want to collaboratively develop a space where you can be comfortable and be yourself. I use a multicultural and empathetic lens in my practice as being a person of colour made me aware that each of us has our own unique experiences and struggles. Your experiences matter, your feelings matter, your thoughts matter, and your story matters.
I am accepting new clients in person and online. Contact me for a free consultation today and we can take a step forward in your self-empowering journey.
