Hi, I’m glad you’re here!
Counselling is about the whole you, because problems do not exist alone, but always within the larger context of life. I work alongside people to find their voice and live by their own values, because when we get clearer about our own intentions for ourselves, it can become easier to live by those intentions (and harder not to!). By asking questions of the problem, it can start to lose its power. We can question it together in non-pathologizing ways. And remember that whatever it is that you’re up against, you also possess strengths, resiliencies, skills and responses that have gotten you to where you’re at today.
My approach is conversational, eclectic, and grounded in Narrative therapy that highlights your expert knowledge and is mindful of the power dynamics in your environment. It can help with understanding emotions, the call of perfection, suffering under ‘the shoulds’, the voice of guilt, changing patterns, wondering what’s ‘normal’, loneliness, improving relationships, negotiating boundaries, current or past trauma, discrimination, gender identity, grief and loss, life transitions, not being so hard on yourself, and more.
I’m a registered social worker with a Master’s degree in clinical practice. I offer an attentive, purposeful and collaborative session centred around your unique experiences, and never one-size-fits-all.
So bring all that you’ve been up against and we’ll be full of curiosity about what has been getting in the way of the kind of day you actually want to have. Anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC affirming.
We’ll start with a free consultation. Please be within your province of residence of Alberta or Ontario for our conversation. I look forward to talking with you, Tara
