About…

Tina works at Nightingale Counselling, a high-standard clinic for adults and youth seeking meaningful progress in their lives.

Hello! I’m glad you are here. My name is Tina, and I’m a registered clinical counsellor (RCC). I am a first-generation Chinese immigrant, and my interest in counselling emerged from my own journey of adapting to a new environment, holding multiple cultural identities, and finding belonging at the intersection of cultures and generations. I primarily offer counselling in English and can incorporate Mandarin in a conversational way when it supports connection and understanding. My goal is to collaborate with you as we make sense of your story, support you with building more fulfilling relationships with yourself and others, and learn applicable tools to live more authentically.

I practice from an attachment based emotion focused approach, which means I believe that how you learned to survive and connect early on shaped your relationship with others and yourself today. I also firmly believe that change happens when you feel safe enough to be brave, supported enough to try something new, and understood enough to let go of what no longer serves you.

I’m also passionate about supporting adolescents and their caregivers with strengthening their relationship with their teens. I work with teens who are dealing with anxiety, low mood, big emotions, friendships, or self-esteem. I also support caregivers in learning practical ways to listen, communicate, set limits, and stay connected with their teen, even during difficult moments.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, creative, and honest. I believe in the transformative power of feeling truly understood, and in the importance of leaning into discomfort that leads to meaningful growth. I often bring in art, games, and movement to help you better connect with your emotions and what you’re going through. When I’m not working, I find joy and fulfillment in exploring new recipes, staying active, and spending time with my friends and family.

I work with youth, adults, caregivers, and couples, offering both online and in-person sessions at the Granville Street location. If you’ve been feeling anxious, stuck, or like your emotions are too big to handle on your own, counselling can be a space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what’s happening. I invite you to reach out, I’m here to support you.
