Hello, I am Tingwei (She/her), a registered psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is finishing her Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Feeling low? Sensing overwhelmed? Getting stuck? In the Buddhist belief, life is challenging and contains suffering. How we navigate through trauma, pain, hurt, and agony, though, reflects how much we can gain through the experiences. I want you to know that you are not alone as I can be there for you, till we find the light again, together.
I consider life a forever learning and evolving journey with various hurdles and diverse experiences, which aligns with the philosophy of positive psychology (i.e., well-being is a result of learning), person-centred theories, and strength-based approaches. We might not have much control over what has happened in the past, but we can learn to change the way we react to similar events, limit the aftermath, and move on with a lighter pack, but a richer mind.
Working in both acute and long-term healthcare settings for more than six years, I specialize in supporting people with chronic conditions, grieving for loss, and difficult life transitions. As a woman from a developing country, a visible minority, and a first-generation immigrant, I empathetically pay extra attention to holistic views, cultural sensitivity, marginalization, gender biases, and oppression. I offer therapies at a competitive rate using sliding scales. I also welcome clients who prefer speaking Mandarin.
