My name is Tyler, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist working online in Ontario and in-person in downtown Toronto.
I prioritise authenticity and endeavour to create a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and self-concept. My work is grounded in trauma-informed, somatic, and relational approaches, and is shaped by training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR (S.A.F.E. protocol), and DBT (DBT-informed). I am attuned to neurobiological research that supports healing from trauma, depression, chronic pain, and anxiety. I was also trained as an art therapist at the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute. Art therapy is as much about engaging with the materials (and working bilaterally) as it is about making art (and no art therapy experience is required).
Somatic practices were an integral part of my art therapy training and are interwoven into my practice. Bottom-up approaches help connect us to the physiological sensations and responses of our body, which can be especially helpful for those experiencing chronic illness or pain, or who identify as busy thinkers (e.g., ADHD) and feel stuck despite intellectual insight. These body-oriented strategies—such as grounding and mindfulness exercises—can also be carried into day-to-day life to support regulation and overall well-being.
My practice is also informed by humanistic, existential, and relational perspectives, which I speak more about on my website. In addition to my therapy training, I am a climate-aware therapist and a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance.
