I am passionate about helping adults and couples who are experiencing mental health struggles and/or difficulties that intersect with their gender identity, immigration status, cultural identity, and life stage. I advocate and am passionate about supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour gain access to affordable therapy. Moreover, my approach and belief are that everyone experiences mental health struggles differently, and that your life history and experience shapes how you will respond to therapy and your therapist.
I use a wide range of scientific knowledge, that are evidence-based, and scientifically proven. This includes narrative therapy, neuroscience, cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and solution-focused therapy. Most importantly, my approach begins with the theory that you are knowledgeable, that you bring wisdom to the therapy, that creating new knowledge begins on top of what you already know, and that you are the expert of your own life. I am also a firm believer that you are in charge of where to begin, and what to focus on because that is what is most important to you. This begins with creating a safe and nurturing environment where you can be vulnerable so that we can go through the journey of positive change.
I have extensive experience working in hospital settings, children’s mental health agencies, and working with members of the military. I will help you learn and develop better ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your goals. I recognize that each person is different with different ways of connecting and I will ensure that you feel safe, comfortable and that therapy goes at your own pace. I believe in collaboration to deal with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, and life stage transitions. By exploring your thoughts and feelings, we will co-develop tools to manage your stress and relationships with others.
