In order to feel safe and in control, you may have learned certain survival and coping strategies to keep you grounded. Perhaps you are a child of immigrants, struggling to exist between two cultures. Or maybe you were afraid to disappoint others and taught yourself to never have any needs or boundaries. These behaviours, while understandable, may no longer serve you in the ways that you need. Together, we can explore and unpack your life experiences, offer understanding and validation to the shutdown parts of you, and learn to take up space and exist in our world. Psychotherapy can promote healing, resiliency and self-empowerment.
I work from an intersectional, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approach that is collaborative and strengths-based. I strive to bring authenticity and warmth to my practice to provide a safer and compassionate space for my clients. Oftentimes, there will be shared understanding, humour, laughter, and tears in our work together.
My work is attuned to each client’s unique needs, and I understand the importance of working at the client’s pace. I am deeply passionate about working with and supporting racialized individuals, immigrants/children of immigrants and bicultural families. I identify as a person of colour, and I speak both English and (limited) Persian/Farsi.
