About…

Hi there. I am Yasuko, a first-generation immigrant from Japan. I appreciate your interest in me. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in counselling psychology at Yorkville University and am in the final phase of my studies. My interest in psychology has been a lifelong passion, which led me to receive my BA in Psychology from a U.S. university.

My personal journey with mental health, after losing my child, fueled my passion for clinical counselling. Born and raised in Japan, and having lived in the United States and Canada, I bring a multicultural perspective to my practice from experiencing different cultures and languages.

I believe there is no one-size-fits-all technique in therapy, so it has to be tailored to each person to fit the client’s individual unique needs. My approach to therapy includes, emotion focused therapy (EFT), Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness,  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), in person-centered, trauma-informed frameworks.

I am here to walk alongside you in a non-judgmental space. I want to create a space where you feel deeply heard and supported without feeling rushed. My goal is to support you in creating meaningful change, whether that means coping with distress, improving relationships, or moving forward with a life that feels more connected and fulfilling.
